Introduction of Central Department of Environmental Science (CDES):

Central Department of Environmental Science (CDES) was established in 26 October 2001 . It offers postgraduate level education in Environmental Science. The vision of CDES is to enable and produce capable manpower in the field of Environmental Science and Technology who can contribute in education, research and development of the country.

Since its inception, the Department is planning to work hand in hand with the development partners maintaining its academic freedom. Nepal being located in mountainous region, CDES intends to focus and learn from similar institutions, CDES maintains a close networks and relationship-ensuring countinous exchange of knowledge, know-how and experience.

Location:

CDES is located in the Science premises of Tribhuvan University at Kirtipur, which is quite free from city hassles. It has its own Environmental Science building. The Department has a reputation for an excellent academic environment in terms of faculty, infrastructure and services

Infrastructure:

The Department is equipped with spacious classrooms, labs and instrumentation room. It provides necessary facilities to the students and faculties. There are three classrooms, three labs and adequate number of faculty chambers and a departmental library in addition to the Central Library. The laboratory is equipped with the necessary equipments to conduct analytical tests for chemical, physical and microbiological and water, air and soil quality analysis.
