NATIONAL CONFERENCE ON ENVIRONMENT
Central Department of Environmental Science, Tribhuvan University (CDES/TU) in collaboration with Nepal Government, Ministry of Environment, Science and Technology (MoEST/GoN) are going to organize a three-day NATIONAL CONFERENCE ON ENVIRONMENT in 1, 2 and 3 June 2007.
Background:
Nowadays conservation of the environment is the subject of common concern. We are talking more about building a new Nepal but without sustainable economic growth and utilization of natural resources, it is not possible. Environment is a multidisciplinary approach, which cannot be conserved by concentrating on only one sector of the society. For the conservation of the natural resources, there must be global alliance. All levels of the society should be made aware of the environmental education and ethics. The need of sustainable development is more strongly felt in a country like Nepal where there exist inadequate policies, lack of proper implementation and monitoring of policy and political influence.
In view of numerous problems associated with the environment and address some of the problems, Department of Environmental Science, Tribhuvan University (CDES/TU) and the Ministry of Environment, Science and Technology (MoEST) are organizing the environmental conference, First Conference on Environment 2007.
The participants of the conference will be scholars, policy makers, stakeholders of environment, planners, implementers etc from different institutions working in the realm of the environment. Participants from government agencies, NGOs, INGOs, and concerned people are expected to participate and share knowledge, experiences, ideas and linkage various environment concerns.
Themes of the Conference:
To buildup interaction, share knowledge and experiences among the scholars, policymakers, institutions and implementers on environmental issues. This conference will also lead to cope up and link sustainable economic development.
